Spring Surf Slam Fishing Tournament!

This is a great time of year to be enjoying our beaches and there’s no better way to do it than with a fishing rod in your hand!

Quick Facts

• Registration Cost- $75 per person
• TWT (optional): Heaviest single fish $25 entry (Winner takes all)
• TWT (optional): High Roller $50 (payouts: 1st-55%, 2nd-30%, 3rd-15%)
• Target Species: trout (gray or speckled), bluefish, Spanish mackerel, black drum, pompano, sea mullet, red drum, northern puffer, and croaker. Aggregate weight of 3 different Species.
• Artificial and live bait allowed.
• Fish at any public beach in Brunswick County. Weigh in at BCFC Beside the wildlife ramp in Sunset Harbor.

Full Rules and Regulations
1 Target Species: trout (gray or speckled), bluefish, Spanish mackerel, black drum, pompano, sea mullet, red drum, northern puffer, and croaker. Aggregate weight of 3 different Species.

2 Registration and Captain’s Meeting- Participants registration will be open online via our website at www.mybcfc.org until the captain’s meeting at 7 pm Friday May 17th, 2024. In person registration will happen on Friday May 19th, 2024, from 5pm-7pm at the Brunswick County Fishing Club located at 3911 Hickory View Drive Sunset Harbor, NC.

 

The captains meeting will be live streamed on Facebook for those who cannot make the captains meeting in person. Attendance at the live or online captain’s meeting is mandatory for each participant unless authorized by tournament director.

3 The tournament fishing time starts 11:59 pm on Friday, May 17th, and lasts around the clock until 12:00 noon on Sunday, May 19th.

4 Check In- Check in will begin at 12:00 pm Sunday, May 19th at the Brunswick County Fishing Club located at 3911 Hickory View Drive Sunset Harbor, NC. All participants must check in no earlier than 12:00 pm and no later than 1:00 pm.

5 All participants must fish from Brunswick County surf. No boats. No sound or pier fishing.

6 No fishing is permitted within 100 yards of fishing piers.

7 All fish weighed must have been caught by the individual bringing them to a weigh station. All fish must be caught on hook and line.

8 Each participant may not fish more than two rods at a time.

9 No kites, balloon rigs, paddling out baits, bait cannons, or drones. No chumming or chum pots. No gaffing fishes.

10 All fish must adhere to North Carolina state size regulations.

11 No cut or mutilated fish will be accepted.

12 Any fish weighed in may become the property of the Brunswick County Fishing Club.

13 All red drum weighed in must be in the slot.

14 Prizes are awarded solely based on fish weight. In the event of identical weights, the first fish weighed shall be declared the winner. In the event of identical weights and times, any prize money for one or both places on the leaderboard will be divided equally between the two participants.

15 Any angler, if directed by the tournament committee, must submit to a polygraph test within 72 hours after the last fish has been weighed. This decision is at the sole discretion of the tournament committee. Should the test be failed or if the angler fails to participate in the polygraph test within the 72 hours, the tournament committee reserves the right to forfeit all winnings awarded to the winner in question.

16 Post Check in Party- Starting at 12pm there will be the post tournament party including beverages and tournament winner’s prize ceremony and sponsor recognition.

17 Protest- All protests must be in writing and delivered to a tournament official within 30 minutes of check in. The tournament director has the final say in all decisions. All protests must be accompanied by a $100 deposit made out to the Brunswick County Fishing Club.

18 Rule Changes- Rules interpretation will be presented to the tournament director. The decisions of the tournament director are final and are not subject to appeal.

19 Release of Liability- A waiver and release of liability form is part of the registration pack, and every angler is required to read, initial, sign, and date the waiver and release of liability form or they will not be eligible to participate.

20 Prize Structure- Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 based on 50 Anglers. For every 20 Anglers after we reach 50 we will add another place. If any recipient wins over $600 dollars, they will be required to fill out required tax documentation before receiving prize money.

21 All participants are responsible for reading and following all rules and regulations set forth.
