Two people died in a collision at Rough and Ready and Old Stake roads today (Wednesday).
First responders said that a sport utility vehicle on Old Stake Road and an 18 wheeler on Rough and Ready collided just before 3 p.m. The SUV was reportedly dragged some distance by the transfer truck.
The two fatalities occurred in the SUV. The truck driver was not injured.
Roseland and Tabor City fire departments responded, along with EMS units from Cerro Gordo and Chadbourn. The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
