Marilyn Dew Watkins, age 89, of Whiteville, NC, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Angel House on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Marilyn was born in Columbus County on March 15, 1935 to the late Jasper E. Dew and Lillie Flynn Dew. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; Wilmur Watkins and son; Wil Watkins.
Marilyn worked for 20 years in healthcare as a CNA.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Debra W. Young and son; Matt L. Watkins both of Whiteville, grandchildren; Jessica Smith (Joey) of Conway, SC, Carrie W. Wilson (Justin White) of Whiteville, and Joshua Watkins of Concord, NC, and 5 great grandchildren; Ashton Smith, Audrey Smith, Ethan Watkins-White, Wyatt Watkins-White and Kaleigh Watkins-White.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm prior to the service.
