The Church News for April 14

 As Easter approaches, local churches are announcing their celebrations and revivals. If your religious organization would like their events published, or if you would like to share your service times in the Church News, please email them to crystalfaircloth@columbuscountynews.com. We’d be happy to get them out there for you.  

  • Engage Life Church will hold their annual children’s Easter celebration on Wednesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. There will be finger foods, an egg hunt, and plenty of fellowship. Regular Sunday services begin at 10 a.m. at ELC, followed by the kid’s ministry at 11 a.m. The church is located at 386 Thompson Town Road in Whiteville. 

 

  • Hallsboro United Methodist Church will continue their Holy Week through Sunday. Maundy Thursday Communion will be held on April 17 at 4 p.m. Bible study for HUMC is every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the parsonage located at 96 Wyche Street, and a craft night takes place every second and fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church. Easter Sunday services will commence on April 20 with adult Sunday School at 10 a.m. and the worship service will begin at 11 a.m. HUMC can be found at 1004 Hallsboro Road South.   • St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church is still holding their weekly food bank every Thursday at 11 a.m. The church can be found at 507 Moneyhole Rd in Freeman. 

 

  • Western Prong Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to attend their live tomb display that tells the story of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection to life. The event will be held on April 18 from 3-9 p.m. and on April 19 from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. WPBC can be found at 167 Peacock Road in Whiteville. 

 

  • Trinty Baptist Church will host an Easter “Son-Set” celebration on April 19 beginning at 6 p.m. There will be music, food, fun, fellowship, a children’s egg hunt, and a youth glow in the dark egg hunt at 8 p.m. Even the Easter bunny will be putting in an appearance. The church is located at 201 South Thompson Street in Whiteville.  

 

  • Abundant Life Assembly of God will have their Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, from 12-2 p.m. The day will include the egg hunt, an interactive gospel lesson, refreshments, and lots of fun. If you would like to visit the church, services at held on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Wednesday evening beginning at 7 p.m. The address to ALAG is 5384 James B. White Highway South in Whiteville. 

 

  • The Lake Waccamaw Methodist Women will have their annual bake sale on Saturday, April 19, at the Hill’s shopping plaza at the Lake. Preorders can be made by calling 910.840.6978 or 910.840.4771. Items available are pecan pie, lemon meringue, coconut pie, chocolate pie, apple cake, plain or lemon pound cake with or without icing, cheese ball, and crescents.  

 

  • New Hope Baptist Church will host their youth revival on April 25-27. The three-night event will feature Reverend Trevor Jacobs on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Reverend Cordovian McMillan on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Reverend Austin Burch will lead services on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. The church’s address is 7857 Old Lake Road in Bolton.  

 

  • Freedom Original Freewill Baptist Church will be having spring revival services from April 27 – May 2. Sunday night service will begin at 5 p.m., and Monday-Friday night services will begin at 7 p.m. Special singing will take place at each service.   • The Columbus County Big Tent Revival will be on May 18-22 starting at 7 p.m. each evening. The address is 531 Byrdville-Freeman Road in Bolton. Speakers include Cameron Lewis, Ryan Everette, Lamont Hemminger, Devin Carroll, and Phil Addison. Special music will be provided by Joey Matthews.
