Plane Crashes Near Rough and Ready

No serious injuries were reported after a small private plane crashed near Rough and Ready Road Wednesday night.
First responders said the Piper Saratoga went down in a wooded area between Rough and Ready and Slade Fisher around 10:19 p.m. The occupants of the airplane and two small dogs walked away from the crash. The plane left Hickory Regional Airport at 9:08 p.m., according to FlightAware.com.
Multiple fire departments, the Columbus County Drone Team, and Columbus County Emergency Services responded.
The plane is owned by Legend46 LLC. The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the N.C. Highway Patrol.
