Dahl, 70, faces 21 counts of cruelty to animals, including two felony charges. Dozens of dogs and other animals were removed from her home on Pone Hill Road in Hallsboro in July.

Columbus County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Sept. 15 on proposed changes to the county subdivision ordinance. The changes were requested by the county at the Aug. 25 meeting due to concerns about lot sizes, density and other issues with residential developments. The first proposed change increase the minimum lot size for new residential construction in subdivisions.

September 13 starts a new season of flock swaps at Gurganus Farm Store. There’s no cost to participate. Bring your birds, small livestock, farm supplies and equipment to buy, sell or trade. The swap will be from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 6 Whiteville Plaza, Whiteville.
