Here’s today’s Bottom Line
A warm and humid air mass is in place for today ahead of a strong cold front which will move through tonight. In the southwesterly flow a scattered shower or possibly even a thunderstorm is possible… far from guaranteed though, and the model blends paint just a trace of precipitation overall. On the whole I believe we’ll see considerable cloudiness today with breaks of sunshine and again that chance for a random shower or rumble of thunder. Unseasonably warm temps continue with highs pushing into the lower 80s.
The front moves through tonight with little fanfare. A wind shift and a noticeable decrease in humidity will accompany the front and our lows will drop to around 50.
Sunday and Monday look to be beautiful autumn days with high pressure in place. Highs just a smidge above seasonal norms in the upper 60s with lows in the upper 30s Sunday night.
Warming trend begins ahead of the next frontal system which should cross the area sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday, depending on which set of modeling you wish to believe. I’m going with a chance for rain Tuesday night but we could see some showers on Wednesday as well. For now, “mostly cloudy” is my call with warm temps.
Whatever showers we get both today and Tuesday night/Wednesday will be light, scattered, and far from being drought-busters.
Overall I don’t expect any major travel concerns locally for Wednesday. A better chance for showers of rain and snow can be expected if you’re traveling north of Lynchburg/Richmond VA into the northeast United States; spotty light rain showers if you’re headed toward Nashville or Atlanta, with dry conditions if you’re going to Florida. No big east-coast storms to worry about for Wednesday for either road or air travel.
THANKSGIVING: We can expect mostly sunny skies and seasonable temps in the mid 60s. A nice holiday is shaping up.
Black Friday should also be dry and perhaps a touch cooler than normal with highs around 60.
