Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Well, this is it for the cold (below-normal) weather through at least Christmas. In fact, we’re going in the opposite direction, especially Thursday, to above normal temps. It’s going to come with a little caveat though… the threat for showers and thunderstorms… especially Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. More on that in a minute.
But for today, it’s going to be a very nice day. Yeah we’re starting off a little chilly but with a mix of sunshine and clouds and a gentle southwest wind, highs will jump into the lower 60s.
Clouds will be in place for tonight, which will prevent us from dropping much. Our lows will be in the lower 40s.
A warm front lifts north over the area early Thursday morning… followed by a cold front sweeping through late Thursday night. In the meantime, temps jump to near 70 on southerly winds. Showers and thunderstorms are likely during the afternoon and into the overnight hours. We could be looking at a rather decent rainfall through this, with model blends painting about an inch of rain over the area. Ultimately the instability will be quite weak, so while I use the term “thunderstorms,” the rumbles of thunder will be few-and-far between. And no, it’s not going to snow within 10 days.
Friday will start off with some clouds and perhaps a few leftover showers… but our skies will clear through the afternoon. This front won’t have nearly the impact that our previous front had… our highs on Friday will be in the lower to middle 60s.
Colder air pushes in Friday night with clear skies. Temps will actually be relatively close to normal, with lows in the lower 30s.
The weekend will feature broad sunshine but a couple of frontal boundaries will make the temperature forecast rather tricky. Either way, no dramatically cold temps can be expected. Saturday will be seasonable with a high around 60. The temps jump into the upper 60s for Sunday ahead of another cold front… which brings us back down to the upper 50s/around 60 for Monday next week.
For the way-too-early Christmas holiday planning, the longer-range modeling doesn’t really show any significant weather systems impacting our area, and temps appear they will run somewhat above seasonal normal values. Now, take that all with a grain of salt because modeling, after about day 7, is a crapshoot at best… but the way-too-soon-to-call opinion is of dry conditions and mild temps into Christmas.
