Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

Good morning readers! Finally some milder temps will move in today and that will aid in significant melting of any leftover snow/ice on area roads. That being said, “shady” areas on secondary roads will remain icy, so use caution when traveling this morning.

We’ll see a mix of sunshine and clouds for today and our highs will be in the upper 40s… which is still about 8 degrees below seasonal normal values.

The highlight of today’s blog is the low pressure and frontal system that will impact our weather on Wednesday.

Low pressure will lift from central Georgia through central South Carolina to eastern North Carolina during the day. As the storm pushes offshore, enough cold air may wrap around the back side of the low that one or two isolated locations may see a few snowflakes or hear the tick-tick-tick of some sleet. That is going to be extremely isolated, is highly unlikely, and there will be no impacts.

One impact that MIGHT occur Thursday morning is that of patchy black ice as temps dip a little bit below freezing. We won’t have the frigid temps we’re currently experiencing, but lows early Thursday morning could dip to between 28 and 32 degrees… which would lead to patchy black ice. We’ll worry about that as we get closer.

Beyond that, all will be quiet in the land of Oz, and for a change we’ll have QUIET WEATHER for the weekend! That’s a victory, so we’ll take it.

Temperatures will continue to run below normal, but looking into the longer range (toward Valentine’s Day) we could see temps well into the 60s…. that’s what some of the ensembles are saying…
