Here’s today’s Bottom Line:
Greetings followers! Today will feature lots of clouds, periods of rain, and chilly — but above-freezing — temperatures.
Rain may be moderate in intensity from time to time as low pressure lift from northern Georgia through north-central South Carolina, through eastern North Carolina by tonight.
Once the low moves offshore, colder air wraps around the back side, and we will likely transition to a period of freezing rain just before daybreak on Thursday… just in time for the morning commute.
I am not expecting a significant amount of freezing rain; in fact, the National Weather Service is painting the northern half of the county with about 0.03″, which is essentially a light glaze. HOWEVER, this light glaze may make secondary roads, as well as bridges and overpasses, quite slippery early Thursday morning.
All precip comes to an end by mid-morning Thursday, with sunshine breaking through by lunchtime. Temperatures will rise to the upper 30s and lower 40s on Thursday.
Again, this will not be a high-impact event… however, I would not be surprised if NWS issues a Winter Weather Advisory for early Thursday morning. Allow plenty of extra travel time to reach your destination.
Beyond that, high pressure settles in and we’re in store for a DRY WEEKEND for a pleasant change of pace. Temperatures will remain below seasonable normal values but will begin a true warmup as we go into next week.
Short and sweet is today’s blog posting. Be careful traveling on secondary roads as they are still rather icy, and with the rain on top of that ice, expect slippery conditions in spots.
