Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

A very healthy dose of rain occurred over the county on Wednesday, over an inch and a quarter at my place in Whiteville, other areas had similar amounts. Believe it or not, even with the snow last weekend, this was much-needed rain. The snowpack didn’t result in all that much liquid equivalent, so the rain was beneficial.

We may see a few spotty light rain or light freezing rain showers early this morning, but for the most part we’ll just have mostly cloudy skies for today and cold temps stuck in the 30s.

Today will be the last day with highs in the 30s for the foreseeable future.

Dry weather will settle in … and last through the remainder of the forecast period. The noteworthy part of that is the dramatic rise in temps as we go into next week. We’ll go from below normal through the weekend to much above normal through next week. Temps could approach the 70-degree mark by the middle of next week. No, winter’s not over, not by a long shot, but we’ll enjoy the warm weather while we have it.
