LAKE WACCAMAW—KJ Thurman took control of the game in overtime Thursday night to ensure East Columbus defeated East Bladen 51-45. Thurman scored seven points in OT to help the Gators tie West Columbus for the Carolina Conference regular season championship with the victory.

East Columbus and the Vikings finished 9-3 in the conference but the Gators will get top seed for the tournament due to them defeating West Columbus twice in the regular season. Thurman ended up with 10 points for the contest and Kevon Stackhouse also added 10 points. The Gators (11-9) will have a first round bye going into the tournament next week at Union. East Bladen finishes the regular season 7-5 in the conference and 7-15 on the season. They will have to wait to see who their opponent is in the first round of the tournament Monday.

LAKE WACCAMAW—East Columbus clinched the Carolina Conference regular season championship behind Malia Grahams 21 point in a 47-30 drubbing of East Bladen Thursday night. The Gators finishes the regular season 10-2 in the conference and 15-5 on the season.

The Lady Gators will have a first round bye in the conference tournament next week at Union High School. East Bladen finishes the regular season in fourth place with an 8-4 conference record and 17-6 overall. The Eagles will host Union (9-12) in the first round on Monday.

West Bladen Girls 53 South Columbus 49

DUBLIN—Amiya McCarty scored a career high 23 points as the Knights defeated South Columbus 53-49 on Tuesday night. West Bladen (3-6, 5-15) secured the fourth spot in the Southeastern Conference tournament next week. McCarty also grabbed nine rebounds in the contest. The Knights finishes out the regular season hosting South Brunswick (8-1, 15-2) on Friday. South Columbus (2-7, 4-16) will host Whiteville (5-4, 8-12) on February 13.
