Local Whiteville standout Ty Moss and the Columbus County Parks and Recreation Department recentl;y held their fourth annual football camp at Legion Stadium in Whiteville.
Campers were given hands on knowledge of football skills such as: skill development, team building, competitive experiences, growth, and one-on-one hands-on coaching from Whiteville Coaching Staff. The camps for kids ages 6-14.
As always, Moss said he was pleased to give back to his community. “There were four rules for this camp. Be respectful, have fun, learn, and compete. More than anything, I want to inspire these kids to chase whatever dreams they have, whether it’s sports or something completely different. We live in a small town and sometimes kids don’t believe they can make a difference. With the right mindset, anyone can achieve their goals.”
While at Whiteville, Moss was a dual threat at quarterback. His sophomore year, Moss punished opponents his senior year with 1,833 yards passing and more than 1,000 rushing. He was twice Columbus County Player of the Year.
After graduation, Moss continued his education and career at East Carolina University majoring in psychology. Moss later transferred to Tennessee Tech, where he helped lead them to two straight conference titles, with records of 6-2, 7-5 in 2024 and 8-0, 11-2 during the 2025 season.
