Drug Suspect Arrested for Sales While on Bond

Narcotics investigators arrested an alleged drug dealer who continued making deals even after attending court.

Christopher Kelly, 44, of 3177 Green Swamp Hwy. North, Bolton, was jailed under $600,000 secured bond, according to detention center records. The sheriff’s office said he was charged with sale and delivery of methamphetamine, two counts possession with intent to sell and deliver the drug, three counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for drug activities, two counts each of possession with intent to sell and deliver fentanyl and sale and delivery of fentanyl, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin.

Investigators conducted an extensive surveillance operation and undercover investigation that indicated Kelly was selling drugs from his home, the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “Multiple controlled purchases” of drugs were made at the location.

“During the investigation, investigators observed Kelly attend a scheduled court appearance and, shortly after returning to the residence, conduct another suspected illegal drug transaction,” the release said.

The Vice Narcotics Unit and HEAT Team executed a search warrant on Kelly’s home on Feb. 18, recovering a quantity of drugs and taking him back into custody.

Kelly was out on bond at the time of the investigation, the release said. Court records show he was charged with trafficking in methamphetamines and other felonies in November 2024. Those charges are still pending adjudication. In 2019, court records show felony cocaine charges were dismissed by the district attorney’s office.

“When individuals continue to sell dangerous drugs in our community – even while out on bond – we will act swiftly and decisively,” Sheriff Bill Rogers said. “Our deputies and investigators remain committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting the people of Columbus County.”
