Here’s today’s Bottom Line:
A big-time unseasonable warm spell begins today. High pressure will be centered over the state today; this will lead to a mix of sunshine and clouds for today and much warmer highs in the upper 60s.
The NC high dissipates as a Bermuda high pressure ridge takes charge starting Wednesday. This Bermuda high will dominate our weather pattern through the weekend.
A southerly flow of unseasonably warm and humid air will be over the area through the period. We’ll have dry weather, for the most part, but I believe the sea-breeze boundary will become a thing once again as we close out the work week. This may trigger some isolated showers or thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
This unseasonable warmth will jump-start the spring growing season. Allergy counts will increase DRAMATICALLY through the end of the week, and by Friday that familiar yellow will be covering everything.
I would hold off on any early planting. While appearing unlikely at this time, I still wouldn’t rule out another period of colder weather toward the middle and second half of the month. But for the short- to medium-term, absolutely no threat for cold temperatures.
