A woman who was allegedly impaired was arrested while walking two small children in traffic on U.S. 74, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hilda Marie Scarborough, 42, of 837 Burkhead St. Whiteville, was held under $5,000 secured bond, according to detention center reports. She was charged with intoxicated and disruptive, misdemeanor child abuse, and impeding traffic.
A passing motorist called 911 at 4:09 p.m. after spotting Scarborough and two children, ages 3 and 11, walking in the area of 264 Green Swamp Road, Bolton. A deputy found Scarborough walking “down and across” U.S. 74 with the children, according to the report.
