A narcotics officer sustained minor injuries after deputies fought with a drug suspect who allegedly led them on 100 mile per hour chase March 31.
Daniel Dalech Adams, 49, was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle for drug activity, and two counts of resist, obstruct or delay an officer. His bond was set at $50,000. Adams listed his address on court records as 5366 Hallsboro Rd. North, Clarkton.
The sheriff’s office said in a press release that deputies were performing additional patrols in the Farmer’s Union area due to citizen complaints about possible drug activity. They were near Tom Sessions and Mable Spaulding roads when they spotted Adams driving in a “manner that raised suspicion.”
When detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, Adams fled at more than 100 miles per hour. In some areas he drove on both sides of the road and created a “significant danger to the public,” the release said.
Adams was successfully stopped at Rehobeth Church Road, where he refused to follow deputies’ commands and instead began fighting. A narcotics detective sustained minor injuries but has recovered.
In the vehicle, deputies found cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Adams was treated at an area hospital and taken into custody.
