Thank you to those who came out on such a windy, chilly Saturday for the March 28 Easter Egg Hunt at Tabor City School. Columbus County Parks and Recreation continues to coordinate and sponsor these egg hunts. Our Chamber enjoys helping to organize. We add more eggs to the hunt, book the Easter Bunny, music, etc. It remains one of our most fun events. The kids are the reason for that!
Huge shout out to all who attended this past Saturday’s Sixth Annual Spring Has Sprung Festival! We hope you had a wonderful time of family fun with Flimsy, the local entertainment, car show, vendors, food and just an amazing atmosphere. The weather cooperated perfectly.
Thank you to each event sponsor, vendor, entertainer, Flimsy the Clown, to Carolina Country Cruisers for the Car Show, and more.
Kudos to the Town of Tabor City for their support by allowing several departments to assist. We could not do these events without the Town Maintenance Department, and the Police and Fire Departments. We appreciate the town’s Promotions Department as well. You all are amazing to work with.
The downtown business community was a huge blessing as they again welcomed this event with open arms. Please don’t forget to #supportlocal by doing business in our greater Tabor City area.
The Spring Has Sprung Festival had us all ready for Easter as this year it fell on Easter weekend. While that may have affected attendance a little we definitely didn’t mind sharing the weekend with Easter. Everyone seemed to be in the best mood and spirits were high. Our Board Members and Volunteers working this event enjoyed all aspects of getting this ready. Thanks to them also.
The Tabor City Community Yard Sale was underway at the Garrell Depot during the same timeframe as Spring Has Sprung Festival and we had folks in town taking it all in. It was absolutely a phenomenal day.
Next up on our calendar of events is the Annual Bass Tournament scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at Lake Tabor. Registration begins at 5 a.m. with Blast Off at 6 a.m. Call 910-377-3012 to pre-register.
On Saturday, June 27, we are coordinating with the Veterans Memorial Park as they bring a Freedom Fest Parade to Tabor City. Y’all are going to absolutely love the patriotic theme so please save the date. More specifics will be shared SOON!
Then, you all need to be ready because the next upcoming event will literally cause you to have a blast!
The USA’s 250th birthday will be celebrated Columbus County-style with the annual fireworks show. Save the date of Saturday, the Fourth of July! It’s going to be a celebration you will not want to miss as we honor 250 years of freedom with an unforgettable night of local entertainment, fireworks, and community pride.
Fundraising for the Fourth of July event is underway. The sponsorship campaign has begun and our office has already started making contacts. You may sponsor and promote your business without receiving a call, email, etc.
In order to raise the funds needed for an event on the Fourth for our Semi-Quincentennial Celebration, we need to double last year’s dollars, so keep your eyes and ears open for additional fundraising efforts. You may see a plate sale or some other event in addition to the sponsorship drive.
Stay tuned for more July 4 details.
As always, we need more event volunteers. Please call us at 910.377.3012 if you are interested and willing to put in some time and effort. We work hard, but it is very rewarding.
We have a new member ribbon cutting coming up. Details pending. Please go to our Facebook Page – Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce – to view details. We are working on those.
Should you wish to become a member of this Chamber of Commerce, please contact us by email at tccofc@yahoo.com or by phone at 910.377.3012 or 910.840.0292. We look forward to hearing from you.
We have adjusted our hours of operation a few times over the past two years due to the ongoing declining health of our Chamber Executive Vice President’s (Cynthia S. Nelson) mother, Verlyn Stevens. Our EVP is our only employee and we have not minded at all working with her. Cynthia’s mother passed away on March 24. Our EVP will return to the office on April 14. Office hours will change beginning with her return. Days will remain the same as she is semi-retired.
Our established days and hours of operation are now Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Please know that these hours will continue until further notice. Also know that during our bigger events, Cynthia graciously serves many volunteer hours to make sure everything is ready to roll. Should you need to schedule a meeting with her beyond the above days and hours, please call her at 910.840.0292.
Our office has a volunteer, Ms. Charity Lovette, who helps as needed and per her availability. We appreciate her.
