Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Welcome to The Weekend!!

Unsettled weather. That’s the name of the game for the weekend forecast. Multiple surges of Gulf moisture will bring intermittent showers to the area today and tomorrow, culminating in the passage of a cold front on Monday.

There’s a stalled frontal boundary to our south. A little wave of low pressure developing on this front will push moisture-laden air into the area today. Some upper-atmospheric energy will help produce widely scattered showers about the area today… most of the activity should be over with by mid-afternoon today. We won’t have a washout like last Saturday, but scattered showers (with little organization) will be the rule. That makes life a little frustrating if you have outdoor plans because there’s no way of predicting just when/where these showers will occur.

We should be dry for tonight before the next piece of energy pushes in on Sunday. This will bring isolated to widely scattered showers to the area but I think the chances of rain (and the coverage) will be a little less on Sunday.

The unsettled weather wraps up on Monday as a cold front sweeps across the area, probably later in the afternoon or even in the early evening. A good portion of the day should be dry but fairly numerous showers and storms are likely with the frontal passage. Some of the storms could be rather energetic depending on the timing of the front.

Overall rainfall amounts are tricky to predict.  Some areas may get little to nothing over the weekend, while other areas may possibly pick up a good inch or more.  A third to half an inch of rain is probable on Monday with the frontal passage.

It’ll be a LOT cooler and less humid through the middle of next week with dry weather. Temps start to climb toward the end of next week.
