The woman charged with assaulting a disabled child has been released on bond.
Ruth Ann Haynes, 57, of Third Avenue, Chadbourn, was arrested Thursday on charges of felony assault on a disabled person, and assault and battery, according to warrants and Detention Center reports. She was released on $2,500 bond around a half-hour after being processed.
Warrants show that Haynes allegedly beat a minor child with a “large hard object,” leaving bruises that lasted more than 48 hours, according to warrants. The incident reportedly occurred in March.
