An early morning structure fire required equipment and personnel from eight fire departments Sunday morning (today).
North Whiteville VFD was called to the home on U.S. 701 Business near the county complex around 6 a.m. Brunswick, Whiteville, Chadbourn, White Marsh, Hallsboro, Tabor City and Williams Township were called to assist. Tabor City and Williams supplied large tankers, and ladder trucks came from Hallsboro and Brunswick.
The road between Government Complex Drive and U.S. 701 Bypass was closed for hours due to the number of emergency vehicles in the area.
In a social media post, NWVFD thanked Columbus County 911, Emergency Management, the Fire Marshal’s Office and Whiteville Rescue for assistance.
We have reached out to the fire marshal for more information.
