Serenity Harvey Claims 200m Dash NCAA DII Track and Field Championships

EMPORIA, KANSAS—Mt. Olive University freshman sensation Serenity Harvey can add National champion to her resume.

Harvey claimed the NCAA Division II 200-meter dash national championship in Kansas last week.

Harvey won the meet with a 23.11 time in the event. Harvey took the prize to etch her name in history as the first National Champion in her school’s track and field history.

The seven-time high school gold medalist from Whiteville accomplished several other feats during the track season.

In the indoor meets, her relay team took first place. Serenity captured second place in the 400 meter and took the 200-meter event. Serenity also broke the Carolinas Conference record in the 400 meter (54.06) and 200 meter (23.08). She was a key member of the 4 x 100-meter relay team, helping the Trojans take runner-up in the national title meet, posting a time of 44.29. She received first team and second Team All-American honors for her performances during the season.

Harvey broke school bests and personal bests during the meets. Harvey is majoring in sports medicine Mt. Olive.
