Traffic Ticket Leads to Moonshine, Mushrooms, Meth and Marijuana

Mushrooms, marijuana, methamphetamine, and moonshine were among the contraband seized after a Whiteville traffic stop June 17.

Wiley Bramble Memory, 62, of 408 Franklin St., Whiteville, was held under $25,000 secured bond, according to detention center reports. He faces charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and methamphetamine, manufacturing liquor without a permit, possession and sale of non-tax-paid alcohol, drug paraphernalia, and sale of alcohol without a permit.

Whiteville Police Chief Paul Rockenbach said in a press release that officers stopped Memory for a traffic violation, and while searching his vehicle found 2.3 grams of methamphetamine.

“Based on information and evidence obtained during the investigation, CNID detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at Mr. Memory’s residence,” the release said.

Inside Memory’s home investigators seized more methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 18 gallons of non-tax-paid spirituous liquor.

Rockenbach said investigators found part of a whiskey still used for making moonshine in the home.
