An escapee from a prison in Forsyth County has connections to Columbus and may be heading this way, authorities said.
Raymond Timothy “Chinaman” Warren, 35, escaped from the Forsyth Correctional Center this morning, according to the Dept. of Adult Corrections. He is a white male, standing 5’4”. Weighing around 160 pounds. He has multiple tattoos, including a cross on his right cheek and the name “Summer” over one eye. He has thin, short dark hair and a mustache.
State correctional and local law enforcement officers have been searching for Warren since this morning, DAC said in a press release.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that Warren is from here.
He was convicted of felony larceny in Columbus County Superior Court in May, according to court records. In 2024, Warren led deputies on a high speed chase from Whiteville to Hallsboro, where he took refuge at another man’s home. He was later arrested again on charges of resisting an officer, assault on an officer, and multiple counts of failure to appear on felony charges.
Warren was serving a five-year sentence for two counts of larceny and was due for release in 2028. Court documents show he had addresses on Clarendon-Chadbourn Road and Hull Street.
Keith Acree of the Dept. of Adult Corrections asked that any businesses that catch Taylor on camera are asked to share that footage with authorities.
