Deputies arrested a man on littering charges only of discover he was also wanted in a domestic violence case where he allegedly fired a gun at his wife.
Christopher McPherson, 41, of 7142 J.B. White Hwy. South, Whiteville, was held under $25,000 secured bond after the arrest early Tuesday morning. He was charged with littering more than 500 pounds, second degree trespassing, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and two counts of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
Warrants show that McPherson allegedly dumped a boat, pallets, junk metal, a tiller, and a utility building on property he did not own and was prohibited from entering. The property is located at 7118 J.B. White Hwy.
While serving him with the summons for littering, deputies discovered he was wanted for the unrelated 2025 assault of his then-wife. He is alleged to have struck the woman with a bookbag and a “long brown gun,” which he later fired at her, according to warrants. He also allegedly took her cell phone during the incident.
