Corrections Officers stopped a woman form smuggling opiates into Columbus Correctional Wednesday.
Pamela Miller Blackwell, 57, of 442 Pine Acres Dr., Chadbourn, is being held under $100,000 secured bond. She is charged with three counts of trafficking opiates, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver opiates, possession of drugs in a prison, providing contraband to an inmate, and exposing a child to controlled substances, according to warrants and detention center reports.
Deputies responded to Columbus Correctional just after noon Wednesday after guards allegedly found Blackwell with multiple packages of suboxone strips, according to the warrant. She was attempting to pass the drugs to Austin T. Blackwell, an inmate at the prison.
She also had a five year old child with her at the time, the warrant said.
Austin Blackwell, 26, is serving time for multiple drug and larceny offenses.
