It turned out quite stormy yesterday thanks to a weak frontal boundary just west of the area, the sea-breeze moving in, and abundant moisture lifting northeast over the Carolinas.

The frontal boundary remains in place, dissipating, and the moisture feed remains in place. The sea-breeze pushing inland should act as the spark to get things going in the early to mid afternoon.
Summertime high pressure then builds in on Sunday. The moisture feed up the coast will remain in place through next week.
