Water rescue units and drone teams are scouring Lake Waccamaw between Dale’s Seafood and the Sigmon Boat Ramp after a kayaker was reported missing.
The kayaker has been described as a 25 year old male. He was reportedly on a black kayak, according to first responders.
The town of Lake Waccamaw sent out a reverse 911 asking residents to check their piers for the missing man.
Boaters are asked to avoid the area while the search is underway. A command post has been set up at the boat landing. Ground crews are also searching near the dam.
