DUBLIN—Heide Trask picked up its first win on the season as they defeated West Bladen 23-6 in football Friday night.
The Knights got on the board first with a Ja’Shae Drye three-yard run with 3:35 left in the first quarter to give West Bladen an early 6-0 lead. The two-point conversion run failed. It fell apart for the Knights after that.
The Titans scored on the next offensive play with a Kamajah Wilson 62-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 6-6. The PAT attempt was unsuccessful. Jackson Sandler gave the Titans a 13-6 lead with a one-yard plunge with 7:02 remaining in the second quarter. Pedro Sandoval added the extra point. In the third quarter, Sandoval added a 28-yard field goal to push the Titans’ lead to 16-6 with 3:31 on the clock.
With 7:02 remaining in the game, Jacob Warren took it in the endzone from 12-yards out to make the score 23-6 in favor of Heide Trask. Sandoval was successful on the PAT.
Jacob Warren had 114 yards rushing and a touchdown to lead Heide Trask. The Titans held the Knights to 81 yards rushing and only 1.9 yards per carry on the night. West Bladen quarterback Gaston Russ was 5-7 passing on the night with 64 yards in the air.
The Knights fall to 0-4 on the season. The Knights will travel to Union (2-1) while Heide Trask (1-3) will host Lumberton (0-3) on Sept. 18.
