Community complaints led Whiteville Police to a raid that netted one arrest and illegal narcotics at a Ward Street home today (Sept. 15).
Andre “Goldie” Pone, 49, of 417 Ward St., Whiteville, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, fentanyl, and cocaine, and three counts each of manufacture, sell and deliver drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, manufacturing Schedule II narcotics, and two counts of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. He was held without bond.
WPD Chief Paul Rockenbach said the search warrant was obtained after complaints from citizens about possible drug activity in the area of the Ward Street residence.
“When officers went through the door, they found what investigators were looking for,” Rockenbach said in the press release.
Officers seized 13.6 grams of crack cocaine, 15.9 grams of marijuana, and one gram of fentanyl. They also confiscated an illegally-possessed firearm.
“The Whiteville Police Department would like to thank the citizens who continue to report suspected narcotics activity,” he said. “Your complaints matter, your information matters, and your willingness to speak up helps us build cases and get dangerous drugs off our streets.
“More narcotics investigations are underway. If you see something, say something.”
