One horse is dead and another is being treated after a case of alleged animal cruelty near Chadbourn.
The sheriff’s office said that the two equines were off Wagon Wheel Drive. Deputies were called to the scene Thursday and discovered a dead horse and another that was malnourished.
The animals had apparently been without food or water for an extended time, according to the report.
The investigation is continuing.
