Highway Patrol stopped a Holly Ridge woman for a traffic ticket Oct. 13, and found large quantities of drugs, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Amanda Marie Hawksworth, 39, was stopped at the intersection of N.C. 214 and U.S. 74 by a Trooper, the press release said.
During the investigation, North Carolina Highway Patrol located various amounts of methamphetamine and numerous items of paraphernalia. County narcotics agents responded and took possession of the controlled substances.
“Upon entering the body scanner at Columbus County Law Enforcement Center,” the release said, “additional quantities of opium or heroin consistent with trafficking were discovered concealed on (her) person.”
Hawksworth was already out on bond on pending charges, so she was not given a bond on the new warrants. She faces four counts of trafficking opiates or heroin; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Sched. II drugs and Methamphetamine; possession of drugs in a jail; obstructing justice; and drug paraphernalia. Hawksworth is from 308 Clearview Drive, Holly Ridge, according to arrest records.
