The cause of a fire that destroyed an Evergreen home Wednesday remains undetermined.
Multiple fire departments were called to 1177 Old Boardman Road Wednesday around 7:43 p.m., according to the Fire Marshall’s office. A singlewide mobile home was burning when units arrived on scene.
No injuries were reported, but the home sustained significant damage. The fire apparently began in the area of a bedroom on the north side of the structure, Dep. Fire Marshall Jonathan Juhl said. Due to the “extensive” structural damage to the interior, an exact cause of ignition source have not been determined.
Responding agencies included Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department along with equipment and personnel from Cerro Gordo, Fair Bluff, Chadbourn-Klondike Rescue, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, and the Columbus County Fire Marshal’s Office. Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation responded to disconnected electrical service, and the American Red Cross was contacted to provide shelter for the family.
