Post time 2:48 p.m. Washington Street at Powell Boulevard has reopened in Whiteville after a crash and shooting this morning (April 13). Whiteville Police Chief Paul Rockenbach said that one male was shot and transported to an area hospital. He did not immediately have the individual’s condition or name. Streets were taped off from the Cookout restaurant on the south to Frink on the north.
Police are investigating a shootout in the 900 block of South Madison Street that shut down a party Saturday night. We have reached out to Whiteville Police for more information.
A collision at Washington Street and JK Powell Boulevard in Whiteville has closed the intersection. Witnesses said one person appears to have been shot. Police, the Highway Patrol, State Bureau of Investigation and other agencies have blocked off the scene. One person has been airlifted to New Hanover.
