Police investigating a call about a man waving a handgun found no suspect Saturday in Whiteville. Whiteville Police were called to Memory Twins Circle just before 11:30 p.m., according to a report.  A 911 caller reported someone “waving a firearm” in a threatening manner. Although WPD were quickly on the scene, they did not locate anyone with a firearm. No shots, injuries or damage were reported.

An early morning fire destroyed a mobile home near Farmer’s Union, and the Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire was intentional. It was the second fire at the home in less than a month. Chadbourn Police charged a man with pretending to be a police officer and telling another man to leave a domestic dispute May 28. Warrants show that Shannon Dewayne Spaulding, 33, of 110 Hudson Dr., Whiteville, was released on a $1,000 bond on the single charge of misdemeanor impersonating a law enforcement officer.
