No one was injured but a Hallsboro man was left homeless Monday night after a singlewide trailer burned on Pierce Cemetery Road. Dep. Fire Marshal Jonathan Juhl said Curtis Wright was not home when the fire started. The single resident of a home in Hallsboro escaped but his home was destroyed in a structure fire tonight (Monday). Multiple fire departments were called to the singlewide trailer on Pierce Cemetery Road before 7 p.m.  Firefighters were still on the scene at 8:30 p.m. This is a developing store. Nicholas J.C.  Mitchell turned 18 on Thursday, and was indicted for first degree murder as an adult. Mitchell and Kenneth Bernard Wooten are alleged to have shot and killed Michael Jason Scott, 54, on Ward Street in Whiteville in June 2023. Wooten was arrested shortly after the killing.
