Detectives are investigating the apparent shooting death of a Bladen County woman. The Bladen Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called to a home in the 18000 block of N.C. 87 at 8:49 p.m. Thursday to a report of a shooting. When they arrived at the Carvers Creek home, they found Sylvia Brown, 63, dead of an apparent gunshot wound. The incident is under investigation.

Deputies following up on complaints about suspicious activity in Hallsboro arrested a man after an extended offroad chase Tuesday.
