• Drugs were worth $150,000 on the street
Two suspects are in jail and $150,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine is off the street after an investigation by Whiteville Police.
Mayer Nunez Olmedo and Ivan Carmona-Rosas, both with Winston-Salem addresses, were arrested Jan. 7 as part of a joint operation by WPD and the State Bureau of Investigation. Nunez-Olmedo posted $85,000 bail and was released Sunday. He is charged with four counts of trafficking meth, two of trafficking cocaine and one count of conspiracy.
Carmon-Rosas was released on a $5,000 secured bond Saturday. He is charged with a single count of conspiracy to traffic meth.
In a press release, WPD said investigators seized three and a half ounces of powdered cocaine, and two kilograms — almost five pounds — of meth. The suspects were selling the drugs in Whiteville and Columbus County, according to the release.
