The Whiteville Junior Woman’s Club hosted their 2nd annual Artic Alligator Plunge this morning at the Lake Waccamaw State Park. Challengers couldn’t jump off the pier because of the shallow water, but the group banned together to submerge themselves from head to toe all in the spirit of the Plunge.

The event raised over $16,000 this year. That’s over $5,000 more than the first Artic Alligator Plunge last year. County Manager Eddie Madden took home the bragging rights as winner. Second place went to Clerk of Court Jess Hill, and third place was head coach of the Whiteville Wolf Pack JP. Price. Donning her cheerleader outfit, Matresse McAllister took home the prize for most spirited.
