Robert Adams, age 79, of Clarkton, NC, passed away peacefully at his home.
He was born in Columbus County on May 8, 1943, to the late Taylor Adams and Bessie Ward Adams.
He was a farmer and also worked for 25 years as a paper machine operator for International Paper. Robert was a member of the Whiteville Auxilary Police for five years. He also was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Associates, the Department of Aging Advisory Council, the Lower Cape Fear Council of Government, the Columbus County Animal Control Committee and the Columbus Ombudsman Committee.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years; Anita J. Adams, three daughters; Hope E. Stover (Hardee) of Springfield, Ga, Angela K. Hines (Johnny) and Durina Keefer both of Clarkton, NC, three brothers; Alyn Adams of Salisbury, NC, John Adams of Wilmington, NC and Michael Adams of Garner, NC, 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. W.H. Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in the Adams Family Cemetery, 137 Mt. Calvary Rd., Clarkton, NC.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lavern Coleman, Tommy Floyd, James Prevatte, Edwin Russ, Curry Wiggins and members of the Vietnam Veterans Associates: Chapter 962.
Active pallbearers will be Grandsons: Joshua Hines, Michael Hines, Jordan Adams, D.J. Hilburn, Chad Hilburn and Donovan Nealy.
