Man Jailed in Machete Attack on Dog

A blue heeler dog was seriously injured after a Ten Mile Road man attacked the dog with a machete.

Christopher Dale Gore, 36, was held under a $3,500 secured bond on a charge of felony cruelty to animals. His address was listed as 3320 Ten Mile Rd., Tabor City, according to detention center reports.

The sheriff’s office reported that Gore is alleged to have used a machete to “randomly” attack the dog, which was at Michael Lynn Soles’ residence on Emerson Church Road. The dog sustained critical injuries, and the owner was attempting to get medical assistance for the animal, the sheriff’s office reported.

The incident was called in at 7:01 p.m. Thursday.
