Whiteville Police have arrested a suspect in the June 6 shooting that left a man injured on Burkhead Street.
Shaton O’Brian Shaw, 21, was arrested in a traffic stop July 4. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, as well as a seatbelt violation and failure to stop for a red light. His bond was set at $101,000 secured.
Reports show that on June 6, Whiteville Police were called to the 300 block of West Burkhead at 11:31 p.m. to a report of shots fired. The victim, whose name was withheld, was found at the scene, along with several fired 9mm casings.
WPD said in a press release that additional charges are pending in the case.
