The North Carolina Honey Festival has come and gone, but the committee is still sponsoring ways to raise money for the community. In partnership with Columbus County Schools, the organization will be hosting the Buzz Bowl fundraiser for local Future Farmers of America groups.
On Friday, Sept. 29, West Columbus High School and East Columbus Jr/Sr High will host the Whiteville Wolfpack and the South Columbus Stallions. During the games, the committee will be raffling off local honey and holding free giveaways with proceeds going to each school’s FFA. The event will combine a homegrown mix of honey, agriculture, and high school football.
To find out how you can get involved, contact the N.C. Honey Festival committee at 336.580.1790 or send an email to nchoneyfestival@yahoo.com. West Columbus is located at 7294 Andrew Jackson Highway Southwest in Cerro Gordo. East Columbus can be found at 32 Gator Lane in Lake Waccamaw.
