Shirley Freeman 79, of the Buckhead Community, Bolton, NC, departed this life on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House in Whiteville, NC. She was born September 12, 1944, daughter of the late Stella Marie Mitchell, Alton Mitchell – Stepfather, Roger Freeman – Paternal Father. She was raised by Papa Lee Jacobs, Aunt Arsenie and Aunt Vergie B. Jacobs.
Ms. Shirley was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church and a very cherished elder of the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Nadine Patrick ( Randall), and Lee Patrick ( Mark), both of Buckhead; six grandchildren, Cheryl Harris ( Garry) of Pembroke, Daniel Patrick of Raleigh, Alina Freeman and Cainan Patrick, both of Buckhead; Mark Twain Patrick (Stephanie) and Amber Patrick, both of Leland; one great-granddaughter, Braylee Harris, of Pembroke; four brothers, Donnie Mitchell (Jackie) of Buckhead, George Mitchell (Allison) of Clinton, Mike Freeman of Baltimore, and Orville Freeman of Buckhead and one sister, Marilyn Daniels (Albert) of Castle Hayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilton Ray (Foy) Freeman; parents; three brothers, Clarence Mitchell, Mike Mitchel, and Adolph Freeman; six sisters:Vera Redwine, Geraldine Goodman, Wilma Coleman, Teresa Huggins, Mavis Ward and Dorothy Brewington.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, NC with Rev. Zach Jacobs, Elder Michael Jacobs, Rev. Jimmy Hunt, and Rev. Mike Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at New Hope Baptist Church.
