While renovations begin on the current N.C. DMV driver license office in Whiteville, customers will have to visit a temporary facility a few hundred feet away.
The permanent office, at 917 Washington St. (U.S. Hwy 74/76 Bus., N.C. Hwy 130), in Whiteville, will indefinitely close at 5 p.m. on Sept. 25. Beginning Sept. 30, customers can visit the temporary office nearby at the American Legion Post 137 Building at 76 Legion Drive. The new office is around the corner from the current facility.
During the relocation, three other nearby driver license offices will offer services on Sept. 28-29 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
- Elizabethtown, 196-A N. Pine Street. (River Hill Village)
- Lumberton, 4650 Kahn Drive. (N.C. Highway Patrol Building)
- Shallotte, 5298 Main Street.
The renovation project at the permanent office is scheduled to last for six months.
Customers are encouraged to check current wait times at VisitDMV.nc.gov before visiting an office.
Many driver license services, including renewals, can be completed online. Visit NCDMV.gov to see if your needs can be met without visiting an office.
