Two suspects have been arrested for a shooting that injured one man in December.
Chadbourn Police working with the sheriff’s office raided two homes Thursday, according to a press release from the CPD.
Officers simultaneously served search warrants at 609 S. Wilkes Street and 302 Lewis Street.
Eugene Olajwion “Scoot” Cromartie, 34, of Lewis Street, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and going armed to terror of the public. He was held without bond.
Axzavier Antwan Cromartie, 32, of Wilkes Street, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine and opiates, and drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $77,500.
The shooting victim is still hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
Assistance from the community helped the investigation, CPD said.
