Douglas Dayton Williamson

April 27, 1941 ~ April 18, 2025 (age 83)

Mr. Douglas Dayton Williamson, age 83 passed away on Friday,  April 18, 2025, at the home of his daughter where he resided.

Born on August 27, 1941 in Loris, SC, he was the son of the late Reuben Marion Williamson and the late Cora Emma Suggs.

Mr. Williamson grew up in he Camp Swamp community of Loris, SC, and later moved to the Sandy Plain community of Tabor City. Where he resided for over 50 years. In the last few years, he resided with his daughter in the city limits of Tabor City.

Mr. Williamson farmed and worked as an auto mechanic for many years and had his own mechanic shop at his home. He was skilled in carpentry also. He loved the outdoors and sharing a good story with someone.

He will be most remembered as a loving husband, daddy, grandaddy, and brother.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Williamson Johnson, Rebecca Williamson, and Amy W. Bullard; grandchildren, Jessica Tyler Brown, John Richard Tyler, Justin Turbeville, Eli Harsh, Carol Ann Reaves, and Christopher Reaves; great-grandchildren, Savannah Brooke Soles, Jeremy Ryan Tyler, Kamber LeAnn Stiehl, Rainley Christa Blackwell, Charley Eugene Reaves, and Briley Ritchart; sister,  Alice Frances Fogle.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Williamson was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Yvonne McKeithan Williamson; a daughter, Linda Ann Reaves; a grandchild, Ambrosia Nicole Cox; a great-grandchild, Jasmine Shenea Soles; brothers, Nathan Bedford Williamson, James Marion Williamson, Robert M. Williamson, Lloyd George Williamson, Franklin Ottis Williamson and Lonnie Calvin Williamson; sisters, Emma Jesma Housand, Sara Elma Housand, and Cora Catherine Long.

Services will be held at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn, on  Friday, April 25, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. with Chaplain Rick Weidman officiating. Following the service fellowship with family and friends will be at the home of his daughter Deborah, 107 Leggette St. Tabor City.
