Chase From Whiteville Ends with Drug Arrest

Willie Graham (CCSO)

Drug and traffic charges sent a Clarkton area man to jail Wednesday after he led police and deputies on a high speed chase.
Willie Graham, 19, of 1200 Quill Moore Rd., Clarkton was held under $11,000 secured bond on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; fleeing to elude arrest; maintaining a vehicle for drug activities; and traffic violations. He was also charged with displaying a fictitious tag.
Graham allegedly fled a traffic stop by Whiteville Police on Jefferson Street. Deputies picked up the chase and pursued his Honda sedan down Redhill, Tom Sessions, Farmers Union, Hallsboro and Rehobeth Church roads, running through stop signs and driving well above the speed limit. The vehicle stopped in the 2000 block of Porterville Road, where Graham fled the vehicle on foot, the report said.
Deputies chased Graham into a nearby field, giving him several commands to stop.
“The suspect fell multiple times while fleeing and was seen discarding a bag before surrendering on the ground,” the report said.
Deputies found approximately 110 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, 17 resealable bags, and a large quantity of clear plastic baggies in the bag, the report said.
“Underneath Mr. Graham’s body, deputies discovered $3,209 in U.S. currency, which appeared to have been partially buried in the dirt,” the report said.
