Tabor City, Chadbourn, the Veterans Memorial Park, and Lake Waccamaw have Independence Day activities planned, and now the town of Fair Bluff has announced that they will be joining in on the freedom fun on July 5 with their ‘Red, White, and Blue Party.’ The town will host a chicken and animal swap, a vendor market, a boxed lunch picnic, and a fishing tournament, with patriotic music playing throughout the day. All the events will take place at Riverside Drive next to the Riverwalk.
First Saturday Market and Chicken Swap
Fair Bluff will hold their ‘First Saturday Market’ on July 5. The event takes place every first Saturday of each month. A chicken and animal swap will be happening from 7-11 a.m. for those looking to expand their herd or flock, and the vendor market will run from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Artisans, bakers, crafters, yard sellers, farmers with produce and more are invited to come out and peddle their items. There is no cost to set up.
Lumber River Picnic
You can grab a boxed lunch for a Lumber River picnic on Saturday from the Sweet Discovery Market and Cafe. The menu includes chicken salad with a side, dessert, and a drink for $9, or you can purchase just the chicken salad and one side for $7. You can order your lunch ahead of time by calling 910.649.0024 or by messaging 859.206.4554. Pickup will be at the First Saturday Market.
Fishing Tournament
After you’ve done some shopping and had lunch, you may want to do a little fishing at the river. The fishing tournament will be from 8-11:45 a.m., with weigh-in at 12 p.m. at the Riverwalk Stage. All contestants will be required to follow NC Wildlife fishing regulations (fishing license, bait, etc.), and categories for the tournament are catfish, bass, and flat fish. Trophies will be handed out for the biggest fish in each category.
For questions about any of the activities for the Red, White, and Blue Party, you can call the Fair Bluff Chamber of Commerce at 910.649.7202.
