Lake Waccamaw Woman Missing

Betty Ward Stanley (N.C. Center for Missing Persons)

A Silver Alert has been issued for Betty Ward Stanley of Lake Waccamaw.

Mrs. Stanley, 85, left her home was last seen in Leland Tuesday, where she was stopped by a Leland Police Officer around 8:30 p.m., the N.C. Center for Missing Persons said.

Mrs. Stanley was in the westbound lane, and told the officer she was heading home to Lake Waccamaw. She has not been seen since, according to the Silver Alert. She was driving a blue 2009 Ford Focus with the North Carolina tag DER-9868.

Mrs. Stanley is 5’6” tall and weighs 180 lbs. she has short blonde hair and brown eyes. She usually uses a walker with a seat attachment. Mrs. Stanley reportedly has a cognitive disorder and may be confused.
